Beyond what has already been played out in the news of the ongoing global pandemic, humanity also bore witness to many awe-inspiring initiatives from non-government organizations, private groups, and individuals across all sectors, in the year that has been.
The renewed sense of social responsibility, rightfully taking spotlight especially in the Philippines, also highlights the impact that the youth sector can collectively make in the face of challenges and adversity. Such as that of the Negros Occidental chapter of the Red Cross Youth (RCY) and Kilusan Para sa Kalikasan (KKK), who were the recipients of the Coke Barkada Awards for 2020 and 2019, respectively.

Fear. Disruption. Uncertainty. These perhaps best sum-up the feelings felt by all Filipinos this 2020 in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. While some sectors were somehow able to weather the resulting storm slightly better than the rest, it is the most vulnerable who truly bore the biggest brunt and suffered the most.
In the midst of the uncertainties of the present and the future, one thing was certain for Coca-Cola, that the only way to bounce back from this hurdle is to look after, and be there for each other. Various youth groups have been given recognition for going beyond their homes to bridge social gaps during the pandemic.
The recognition was bestowed by The Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) Awards Foundation to the top 10 youth groups who went beyond their homes towards communities to help sow a promise of something better. Through relief operations, online webinars, art and poetry support groups, young Filipinos made ways to make 2020 to be a year still worth celebrating. 2020 is a year when bayanihan shone through.
These organizations mobilized their skills and resources to help communities in need. At a time when everybody needs hope and inspiration to move forward from various challenges that this year posed on each Filipino.
