Area MnDNR Conservation Officer Weekly Reports - March 16, 2021 Written By: Denton L. Newman Jr | 9:00 am, Mar. 16, 2021 × District 9 - Brainerd area CO Eric Sullivan (Brainerd) Ice conditions on area lakes are deteriorating quickly and anglers are using ATVs for travel. Sullivan worked fishing activity and litter complaints on area lakes. He also investigated deer-hunting violations. CO Amber Ladd (McGregor) primarily worked late ice anglers. She also investigated a situation where a beaver dam was removed, possibly affecting water levels on an adjacent lake. She also presented a 30-year appreciation award to a volunteer snowmobile safety instructor at the snowmobile club’s meeting this past week. Our instructors volunteer many hours a year to teach youth our safety classes. Their work is greatly appreciated and Ladd was glad to be able to extend that appreciation to the club and the instructors.

Outdoornews February 25, 2021 District 1 – Baudette area CO Demosthenes Regas (Blackduck) worked snowmobile enforcement and angling activity on special-regulation lakes this past week. Time also was spent patrolling area grant-in-aid snowmobile trails with neighboring officers.  CO Eric Benjamin (Warroad) continued his focus on angling and off-highway vehicle enforcement this past week. Enforcement action taken this past week included a motor vehicle other than a snowmobile operating on a state grant-in-aid snowmobile trail, possessing fillets on a special-management water, immeasurable carcasses of walleyes, angling without a valid license or no license in possession, and no identification displayed on a shelter.  CO Aaron Larson (Baudette) worked primarily angling and snowmobiling enforcement. Larson also checked anglers on Lake of the Woods and found limited fishing success. Violations encountered were related to extra lines, shelter licenses, and angling licenses.

CO Ryan Brown (Karlstad) reports very little recreational activity due to the holiday season. Anglers reported 10 inches of ice in some spots of the Thief River. ATV enforcement was taken this past week due to no headlights activated while in operation. Snares and traps were checked in the area. CO Jeremy Woinarowicz (Thief River Falls West) conducted angling and trapping checks in the area. Enforcement action for the past week included ATV registration, angling license and ice shelter license violations. District 2 - Bemidji area CO Tom Hutchins (Crookston) reports spending time this past week checking anglers. Time was also spent contacting ATV operators and checking archery deer hunters.

Written By: Minnesota DNR | × Here is the weekly report from Department of Natural Resources conservation officers in northwest Minnesota and adjacent areas of northern Minnesota for Monday, Dec. 21: District 1 - Baudette area CO Ben Huener (Roseau) checked anglers on Lake of the Woods, as well as archery deer hunting and trapping activity around Roseau County. Ice on Lake of the Woods is good for the most part, but stubborn cracks keep opening in several places, keeping anglers from going out very far. Violations for the past week included hunting deer with the aid of bait, possessing an overlimit of walleyes, possession of marijuana, angling with an extra line and felony possession of cocaine.
