District 1 – Baudette area
CO Ben Huener (Roseau) checked anglers on Lake of the Woods and the Roseau River. A joint detail was worked with the U.S. Coast Guard. A complaint was taken about a possible wolf depredation, and a state trapper was set up to trap in the area north of Badger.
CO Marc Johnson (Warroad) primarily worked angling activity on Lake of the Woods and ATVing enforcement. He also monitored public accesses. In addition, time was spent investigating dredging activity and a partially sunken boat at a local marina.
CO Corey Sura (Baudette) worked angling activity on Upper Red Lake, Lake of the Woods, and the Rainy River. Time was spent investigating a minnow-trapping complaint, assisting volunteers with a local ATV safety class, and participating in a kids fishing event with fifth- and sixth-grade students from Kelliher.
Sturgeon spawning run draws spectators to Rapid River east of Baudette
Spectators and anglers should not touch, disturb or handle the sturgeon during this fascinating display. People handling or taking sturgeon by unlawful methods, including taking by hand or snagging, may be charged.

DNR seeks information on 2 bald eagles that appeared to have been shot
Anyone with information on the two bald eagles is asked to call DNR conservation officer Demosthenes Regas or Minnesota s Turn in Poachers hotline at (800) 652-9093 or #TIP.

District 1 - Baudette area
CO Ben Huener (Roseau) checked turkey hunters and pike anglers. Enforcement action was taken in Marshall County for an untagged turkey that was being transported. On the Warroad River, enforcement action was taken for fishing without a license, fishing for northern pike and walleyes out of season and angling with an extra line from a kayak.
Car-hit eagle turns out to be a Canada goose, DNR conservation officer reports
Early season boaters are reminded to make sure every occupant has a life jacket. It does not take long for hypothermia to set in with the current water temps.

District 1 - Baudette area
CO Ben Huener (Roseau) did follow-up work on a couple of arson cases. Contact was made with a turkey hunter who was putting out bait to attract turkeys. The hunter was informed of turkey baiting laws, which are very similar to deer-baiting laws. Online training was completed.

District 1 – Baudette area
CO Ben Huener (Roseau) investigated arson fires in western Roseau County and Kittson County. Evidence was transported to the BCA lab in Bemidji.
CO Marc Johnson (Warroad) worked angling activity on the Rainy River and public accesses, patrolled local state parks and forests, responded to calls for service, and answered questions regarding Lake of the Woods and Rainy River fishing regulations. In addition, a detail focusing on fire prevention was worked with DNR Forestry.
CO Corey Sura (Baudette) monitored public accesses on the Rainy River, worked boat and water enforcement, and assisted DNR Forestry with additional patrol, looking for any fire or burning activity while restrictions are in place. Enforcement action was taken for violations including fishing without a license, fishing with extra lines, fishing with unattended lines, open burning during a burn ban, open burning of garbage, and miscellaneous boating safety eq
