Clyde Council approved free pool time, rec activities for residents

CLYDE - City residents will receive a welcome back to spring and summer in 2021 when the Aquatic Center and recreation activities get rolling. Clyde City Council has waived activity fees and pool admission fees for residents of the city proper. The council approved a resolution April 20 eliminating the fees as a thank you to its residents for patience in helping to control the COVID-19 pandemic. City Manager Paul Fiser emphasized this is for city residents only. Just having a Clyde mailing address does not mean a person is a city resident, he said. It was canceled last year too. Gene Schwochow, commander of the Clyde American Legion, attended the meeting and recommended to not have the parade in 2021. City Council supports the decision. Schwochow noted concern for veterans, residents and spectators.

Talk About Clyde: City recreation gears up for summer Jeanette Ricker New playground equipment is scheduled to be installed at Thaddeus Hurd Park this summer, formerly known as Cherry Street Park. Jim Mason, park superintendent, said the Clyde Recreation Board approved the purchase, but the installation date is not yet determined, citing unexpected manufacturing and delivery delays due to COVID-19. The equipment is all inclusive with several components to accommodate both handicapped and able-bodied children, including swing sets and climbing equipment, Mason said. Recent improvements to the park include walking trails. There is a basketball hoop and a portable toilet.
