Our partners are the 2020 womens Vote Centennial Initiative, and the one woman one vote 2020 festival, and we thank them for their support. My name is elizabeth, and im the executive director here at the Woodrow Wilson house and its my pleasure to welcome you to the first of a series of speaking events that were going to have on suffrage. So the wilson house, if you havent been here before, its part of the National Trust for historic preservation. Wilson and his wife edith lived in this house and they turned edith turned it over to the National Trust in 1961 upon her death and it has been lovingly cared for and so we welcome you tonight. I wanted to tell you a little bit about how we started this suffrage speaker series. Asantewa boakyewa, our senior manager of collections and interpretations, said to me this summer when i first started the job, there is a commission on the suffrage and i think we should go to that meeting. About two days ago i was walking up the steps of the capitol one representative yoho suddenly turned a corner and he was accompanied by representative Roger Williams. He accosted me on the steps right here in front of our nations capitol. I was minding my own business walking up the steps and representative yoho put his finger in mydi face and he they called me disgusting. He called me crazy. He called me out of my mind and he called me dangerous. And then he took a few more steps and after i had recognized his comments as rude he walked away and said im rude . Your policy as rude.
