It also provides food hampers and sensitisation around domestic violence through workshops. - Sureash Cholai Jamaican-born Delores Robinson grew up in a home affected by domestic violence. As a young woman she worked in an organisation that dealt with gender-based violence – but she later found herself in a similar situation. Now she works to help victims and survivors of domestic violence to separate themselves from their abusive situations and stand on their own feet.

St Augustine West Rotary to host virtual Carnival fundraiser Malick Folk Performers - ROGER JACOB THE National Carnival Commission has said it will not be hosting any virtual events for 2021, but that other entities can do so if they wish. On January 2, the Rotary Club of St Augustine West will host a virtual fundraising concert, at Green Meadows, Santa Cruz. The event, Soca in White: Artistes for Artistes, will be streamed locally, regionally and internationally on YouTube via Stream Stage platform from 8-10 pm. Tickets cost $25 and can be purchased via the link on the club s Instagram page. Patrons will be given a link to view the event.

Rotary lights up hospital trees Sunday 13 December 2020 Two trees in the vicinity of the paediatric hospital at the EWMSC were lit by members of the Rotary Club of St Augustine West on December 5. - FOR the past seven years, at Christmas and Independence, the Rotary Club of St Augustine West has been decorating the medical paediatric ward two at the Wendy Fitzwilliam Paediatric Hospital, Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (ESMSC) at Mt Hope. Calypsonian Crazy entertains at the lighting of two trees at the Wendy Fitzwilliam Paediatric Hospital, Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (ESMSC), Mt Hope - This Christmas, due to the covid19 restrictions the club was unable to decorate the ward. Instead, members decided to light up two trees at the hospital. On December 5 the lights were officially turned on by club president Curtis A Gopie and Beth Castillo, assistant to the property manager at EWMSC.
