is. obviously, this is a very destructive storm, but in terms of the aesthetics, this is a beautiful looking hurricane, or starting to you can see the four quadrants and the colder cloud tops and the darker shades of red, you can see that well defined eye, something we haven t seen in the last few days. category three right now, 115 miles per hour sustained winds, this is going to barrel through the length of the bahamas and possibly be very destructive and devastating for them, we could see easily 6-12 inches of rainfall, 7-11-foot storm surge for them, so this is going to be one that they really have to watch out for. now, in terms of timeline, this is the new track as of 11:00, and look at that, category four, 135-mile per hour sustained winds, we think there is a lot of warm water to travel through and not a lot in its way. these islands are flat, so the land masses are not going to interact really with this storm. it has really a free path for the next several days in

america, well, it is weakening, that s for sure. but we are looking at some other changes out there. you can see the torrential downpours pounding areas into guatemala and belize. let s zoom in and you ll see the heavy rain. the purples and oranges are the higher cloud tops, and that s where we re getting the strongest downpours of thunderstorms. the mud slides also very dangerous and difficult to detect. a lot of times if you re in an area where it s prone to mud slides, sometimes you could actually hear a mud slide before it happens by the sound of boulders colliding, tree branches breaking, and before the water comes in. but it s difficult to get out of the way in times if there is a mud slide, for sure. let s talk about the weather in the u.s. i want to start off with how cool it is. what a sunday, 47 in detroit, michigan. toron toronto, 48. 46 in buffalo. and control cooling cooling in the northeast, 50s and 60s. a big change. we were in the 90s on friday.
sophomore of these outer bands or squalls are starting to get into the region. here are the hurricane watches. we have the tropical storm warnings which intend all the way up towards port o connor. tropical storm conditions expected in less than 24 hours. there s a big picture of the radar. getting into houston? almost over to new orleans. and that s all from the storm. i wanted to show you a quick look. magic wall is doing strange things. i think it s your show. chad s had problems with it on your show. this is from the air over houston. the things you look for are the highers cloud tops. the higher the tops, the stronger the thunderstorms. as those storms roll through those areas, we ll watch for the winds to increase to go along with that as well. we ll show you where we expect the worst of the flooding. flood watches in effect.
that was very good. let s get the latest on this storm from reynolds wolf, who is in our hurricane headquarters. great stuff. i wish we had some better news to share with you. but we re seeing a few things right now that are kind of favorable. let s take you frame by frame of the image that we have. you see the areas shaded in the blues and reds, the spots where you have the coldest cloud tops, indicating some of the heaviest rainfall. as we fast-forward, one frame after another, there s a little bit of dry air beginning to invade part of the hurricane as we put this into motion, again a few more frames here and there, you see there it is, the dry air. the reason it s important to mention, that s one of the things that can help break the storm apart. a couple of the big enemies of these kind of storms. one, cold water and the second thing would be shear. there s a little intrusion to the dry air, and that could break up the overall structure of the storm, or at least weaken it a litt
