ESB Networks is continuing with its Dingle Project, an initiative which is trialling the use of new, cleaner and greener technologies on the West Kerry peninsula.
This includes retrofitting homes and businesses with cleaner technologies, such as solar panels, air source heat pumps, EVs and smart immersion controls.
Despite the effects of the pandemic, the Dingle Project is still ongoing.

Trialling electric vehicles (EVs) is a large part of the initiative.
I first spoke to Ciaran Geaney, Dingle Project ICT Lead, and asked him for a reminder about the project on the Dingle Peninsula.

That’s an overview of the project and what ESB Networks’ is hoping to find out. But, what’s known about EVs so far and where is the industry going?
Three common dolphins that became trapped by the falling tide in Cloghane on Sunday morning were successfully guided back out to sea by locals who have become expert at rescuing dolphins because of the high number of strandings that occur in the area.
The stranded dolphins were spotted shortly after 10am in Cloghane estuary and Dingle Oceanworld Head Aquarist Louise Overy, who lives nearby, was on the scene soon afterwards equipped with a dolphin stretcher that was recently provided by the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group (IWDG) to assist with the frequent dolphin rescues that are carried out in the Cloghane area.
