Cllr Lloyd gave a brief overview of her two years as mayor - noting that it had been very strange due to the pandemic. She thanked the councillors and council staff for their support of the town over the last few years. “Thank you to Janet who has been a stalwart of wellington town council for the last two years,” said Cllr Lithgow. “She has been absolutely brilliant. “I am one of many councillors who is willing to take on this duty. “So thank you for this support and the sharing of the load.” Cllr Vivienne Stock-Williams became deputy mayor at the meeting.
THERE is a possibility a new cycle route could be created between Taunton and Wellington, if a suitable route is found. A feasibility study for the route was undertaken in 2018 by Sustrans and part funded by Taunton Deane Borough Council, looking at a cycle path to the north of the A38. But this route crossed over many different parcels of land owned by different people. However, there was a meeting a couple of weeks ago with Taunton Area Cycling Campaign, Sustrans, council members and so on, as well as David Sheppy, who suggested planning the route to the south of the A38.
