9 arrested in connection with Deep East Texas drug ring

Nine people are behind bars following the investigation into a drug ring in Polk County, On March 10, 2021, detective’s with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Narcotic’s Unit assisted the Criminal Investigation Division with an ongoing investigation regarding an overdose in which one person was found to be dead and three others were admitted into hospitals. The drug was believed to be cocaine laced with an unknown chemical. During the investigation it became known the cocaine was laced with Fentanyl. The investigation led to information the drug was possibly obtained from an unknown address off of E Capps Rd. in Polk County from a person known as “Momma Lou”.

An investigation related to overdoses where one person died and three others were admitted into hospitals led detectives to the E Capps Rd area searching for the laced drug and “Momma Lou”. On Wednesday, March 10, Narcotics Detectives located Lou Ann Hudson aka; “Momma Lou”, just off of E Capps Rd. Detectives searched the home and found eight people in possession of methamphetamine and items used to distribute illegal narcotics.

Official: Utah sergeant could face charges in fatal shooting

By - Associated Press - Friday, March 12, 2021 SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A police sergeant was not justified in his involvement in a fatal shooting in Salt Lake City last summer and could face criminal charges, a Utah prosecutor announced Friday. Charges have not been filed against West Valley City Police Sgt. Jason Vincent, but Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill said “the matter remains open and under consideration until more information can be gathered,” KUTV reported. Vincent was part of a federal law enforcement task force pursuing Damien Evans, who was wanted for parole violation, in August 2020. When officers tried to arrest Evans, he ran and was armed with a handgun, Gill said.

It’s widely referred to as daylight saving time. Now, Rep. Chris Stewart, R-UT, is sponsoring a bill in Congress to end the biannual practice. Stewart called it outdated and unpopular. He says changing time “does nothing but confuse our schedules.” The legislation would give states the option to stay on daylight saving time permanently. For now, it’s still a thing. Don’t forget to move your clocks ahead by an hour Sunday at 2 a.m.
