Mass vaccinations for seniors have begun in St. Lucie County.
Guillermo Mager said his initial efforts to get a vaccine appointment were frustrating.
“There must be a better way of doing this, Mager said.
He got a break when he saw St. Lucie County officials on TV Friday.
“I saw the announcement, I got on my computer and five minutes later I had an appointment,” he said.
Mager was one of 15-hundred people to get a shot Monday at the St. Lucie County fairgrounds.

I kind of feel like it s an extra pair of gloves for us, said health-care worker Heather Englart. That s basically how I feel. It s another layer of protection because we re here to help everybody that we can and I would rather be the one still be able to help than needing the help.

St. Lucie County is hoping to ramp up its efforts to offer the COVID-19 vaccine to residents who are 65 and older.
Health department officials announced on Friday they re holding a drive-thru mass vaccination clinic on Jan. 11, 12, and 13 at the St. Lucie County Fairgrounds in Fort Pierce from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
People 65 and older and health care personnel can receive the COVID-19 vaccine by appointment only. To make an appointment,
County health administrator Clint Sperber said he anticipates St. Lucie County will vaccinate around 1,500 per day at the clinic.
