CLEVELAND, Ohio – One of the seven men selected by the administration of Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish as finalists for sheriff appears to lack the type of college degree required under the county charter to hold the job next year, records show.
The resume for Steven Hammett, the current chief of public safety for the Cleveland Institute of Art, lists only an associate’s degree in fine arts. The charter sets the minimum educational requirement for sheriff at an associate’s degree in law enforcement or criminal justice.
