Clemson, S.C. - Eleven former Clemson student-athletes and coaches, including eight who earned All-America honors, will be inducted into the Clemson Athletic Hall of Fame this fall. Bob Mahony, director of the Clemson Block C Club announced on Tuesday. The class will be inducted the weekend of Sept. 23, 2023 in conjunction with Clemson’s football game against Florida State. The class includes student-athletes and coaches from eight different sports. The group includes two former Tiger gridders, two from men’s track and field, and one each from men’s tennis, men’s basketball, baseball, women’s tennis, women’s track and field and a former golf coach. The class features multi-sport athlete Kyle Parker, who starred for Clemson in baseball and football between 2008-10. After earning All-ACC honors in baseball in the spring of 2008 when he should have been a senior in high school, Parker starred in football and baseball during the 2009-10 academic year. CLEMSON, S.C. - Former Clemson Head Coach Jack Leggett will have his #7 retired in a ceremony at Doug Kingsmore Stadium prior to Clemson's game against Notre Dame on April 15 at 4 p.m. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at approximately 3:45 p.m. To order tickets for the game, click HERE. Leggett served as Clemson’s head coach for 22 seasons from 1994 to 2015 after spending two seasons as an assistant coach under Head Coach Bill Wilhelm. As head coach, Leggett led the Tigers to 955 wins, 21 NCAA Tournament appearances and six College World Series berths. Clemson was the seventh-winningest program in the nation during his time as head coach. Under Leggett, the Tigers won three ACC Tournament titles, and he was named ACC Coach-of-the-Year three times. He coached 11 first-round draft picks, 21 players who went on to play in the major leagues, 31 First-Team All-ACC players, 34 All-Americans and 121 players who signed professional contracts. Wayne Jenkins enrolled at Clemson in the Fall of 1969 as a member of the Track & Field team, making him one of the first two African-American student-athletes at Clemson, joining Craig Mobley (Basketball) that semester. Jenkins was the 1972 ACC Champion in the 600 yards, the program's first individual ACC Championship by a person of color. He also claimed ACC titles in 1972 and 1973 as part of the mile relay. In 2022, he was awarded with the ACC Unite Award, presented annually to those who best exemplify ACC CORE's mission to promote and encourage racial equity and social justice through education, partnerships, engagement, and advocacy.
