Cyber security issues dominated the meeting of the state’s nuclear energy stakeholder committee on Wednesday morning.
The Leadership in Nuclear Energy Commission, which advises Governor Brad Little on state policy related to the laboratory, spoke during his five-hour meeting. Topics for discussion included the lab’s Cybercore Integration Center, the relationships between the lab and national security efforts, and the future of 5G network research.
US Senator Jim Risch, R-Idaho, told the commission he thought it was likely the lab would soon be spending more money on its cybersecurity programs than on its nuclear. He suggested that the committee establish a subcommittee or secondary committee that would focus solely on the cyber security aspect of the lab’s work.
