Diablo. Overnight, the fire doubled in size since it broke out yesterday afternoon around 1 30 and we just received new numbers on how big the fire is right now. So far, it has burned more than 3,000 acres. These are live pictures of some of the fire lines from newschopper2. Crews are getting a handle on it and right now its 20 contained and nearly 100 homes are under a mandatory evacuation. Rosemary orozco is tracking the fire conditions and brian flores is talking to evacuees. We begin our coverage with Tara Moriarty who joins us live near the fire lines in clayton. The combination of poor access, the terrain, the high temperatures, and fuels being t dry as a result of the drought are contributing to the challenges. Agencies across the area are responding to the morgan fire. Helicopters and planes fighting from above and 250 firefighters on the ground. The fire is threatening dozens of homes. And as the flames burned, people who lived just on the edge of Mount Diablo State Park were ordered to leave immediately. Its nerve wracking and it makes you want to think about why you live out in an area like this.
