Elmer Aungst Jr., 97, of East Freedom, died Monday at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring, after a brief illness. He was born in Brooks Mills, son of the late Elmer Aungst Sr. and Mabel (Boyer) Aungst.
He married Betty J. Flaugh on March 16, 1943, and she died March 20, 2008.
He is survived by three children: Ronald G. Aungst and wife Georgia of Brooks Mills, Bonnie L. Norris of Indiana, Pa., and Gary L. Aungst and wife Susan of Martinsburg; nine grandchildren; many great and great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Wilfred “Bill” Aungst and wife Audrey of Martinsburg.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
