ââ¦But in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes,â Benjamin Franklin stated in 1789. Itâs a timeless quote but itâs in desperate need of an update to recognise another modern-day phenomenon; India Jordan only makes bangers. In a time of great uncertainty, when the world is increasingly unpredictable, itâs reassuring to cling to one constant, and it comes in the form of Indiaâs talent for creating dance music that provides both dizzying euphoria and instant comfort.
After the sublime
overwhelming critical acclaim, dancers spent much of 2020 mourning shuttered clubs and cancelled festivals, lamenting the fact tracks like âFor Youâ and âRave Cityâ couldnât be heard over booming soundsystems which now gathered dust. It was obvious that summer should have belonged to India Jordan. Little did we know, they had plenty more up their sleeve
LUMP - Laura Marling and Mike Lindsay - will release new album Animal on July 30th.
The duo released their debut as LUMP back in 2018, but reconvened at points in 2020 to work on fresh material.
New album Animal was recorded at Lindsay s studio in Margate, and life by the sea influence its artistry.
âWaves go in circles of seven, so I started to write all the music in seven form,â he explains in a press note. Comrade-at-arms Laura Marling adds: âBut the thing is pulling out the rhyming pattern in the tracks that were written in 7/4 was very difficult for my brain to get my head around.â
20 year old Irish artist
Luz (pronounced âLuceâ) released three singles last year, all recorded during lockdown. Her fourth offering âcounting housesâ was also recorded at her Co. Offaly home studio. Itâs a song about having positive influences in life. âIâm part of the LGBTQ community, so that there is always going to be underneath the songs. That perspective is always going to be something.thatâs always going to be the way I tell it,â she says. âThe listeners donât have to be LGBT to listen to it,â she adds.
Luzâs music is for âanyone who feels a little bit different than what society says the norm is.â Thinking about it, she adds,âThere is no ânormâ so everyone always feels a little bit different in some way.â In Luzâs words, itâs a âreassurance songâ that encourages listeners to be themselves and not be afraid of what others may think.
Mitski has shared her new song The End .
The songwriter has recorded a score for incoming graphic novel This Is Where We Fall, her first piece of new music since an Allie X collaboration last year.
Leading with The Baddy Man back in March, Mitski follows this with new song The End .
A brooding piece of noise pop that skirts close to shoegaze fantasies, it comes equipped with a spoken word passage from This Is Where We Fall writer Chris Miskiewicz.
Discussing the soundtrack project, Mitski says in a press note: It was exciting to make a soundtrack for a comic book. It allowed me to work outside of my usual songwriting form and try to approach it like a score, but without any of the cues that come with working alongside a moving image, which ended up being both freeing and challenging. I hope the end result helps to immerse you in the story!
