Telecompaper Claro loses Comcel case in Colombia, continues challenge Monday 10 May 2021 | 08:51 CET | News Claro (America Movil) has issued a statement confirming that the World Bank s International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) has ruled against the company in an arbitration initiated back in August 2016 against the Colombian government. The ICSID tribunal ruled that measures taken by Colombia s government in 2013 did not represent an expropriation of Claro s investments in its subsidiary (Comcel) or a breach of the Free Trade Agreement between Mexico and Colombia, ordering the company to pay USD 2.2 million to cover the costs of the case. Claro Chile unveils first fibre-based IPTV plans Monday 15 March 2021 | 11:26 CET | News Claro (America Movil) has launched its first pay-TV plans on fibre broadband in covered parts of the country. The operator s new plans include 1 Play TV Pro HD Fibra with 56 channels in HD and 32 in SD plus Claro Video at a cost CLP 21,990 (around USD 30) a month, reduced to CLP 18,990 for the first 3 months. Also available are the football-based 1 Play TV Pro HD Futbol Fibra with 57 channels in HD and 33 in SD, plus Claro Video and TNT Sports HD, for CLP 31,490 (around USD 44) a month, reduced to CLP 28,490 for the first 3 months.

Claro Peru launches 5G home internet service in Lima

Telecompaper Claro Peru launches 5G home internet service in Lima Tuesday 9 March 2021 | 11:27 CET | News Claro (America Movil) has launched Peru s first fixed wireless access (FWA) internet service over 5G in parts of Lima. The residential internet service uses frequencies in the 3.5 GHz band recently approved for 5G services by the country s Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC). It includes 1,000 GB of data at download speeds of up to 50 Mbps for PEN 109 (around USD 29) a month and is currently available in covered parts of the districts of Asia, Mala, Santa Maria del March, Lurin, Chaclacayo, Cieneguilla, Santa Eulalia and Ancon in Lima.
