Proposed routes from Bedford to Cambridge as part of the wider Oxford to Cambridge link have been unveiled by the East West Rail Company - with residents invited to take part in a consultation.
The central section proposal from Bedford to Cambridge has been broken down further into smaller sections the public can comment on. Section D runs from Clapham Green to The Eversdens, Section E is Harlton to Hauxton and Section F is The Shelfords to Cambridge.
East West Rail (EWR) has unveiled five possible new routes for the next phase of the rail project linking Oxford and Cambridge.
A public consultation has been launched to gather feedback on the five different route alignments and six proposed stations that will cover the Clapham Green to The Everdens section of the new railway. EWR’s two preferred options share a ‘travel corridor’ with the proposed A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet Improvement scheme and have the greatest potential for new homes. The sections are also expected to cost less to build than other options.
The consultation will also consider how the project can improve Oxford Station and options for new stations at Bedford and Bedford Saint Johns. Alongside route options and new transport infrastructure, EWR is seeking ideas on how to ensure that communities around Bletchley and Marston Vale line get the most out of the new project.
