Milford, New Hampshire s fire horn was - much to residents outrage - silenced last August as an unofficial courtesy to local autistic boy Lukas Fowler, 12, who felt the world was ending when he heard it.

Ragon Institute Women Make a Difference: Claire Brewer

Claire Brewer, the Ragon Institute’s Director of Information Technology since 2019, has been a trailblazer since her early teens. In the mid-1980s, at age fourteen, she was the only girl at her UK school studying computer science. Brewer attributes her early passion for technology to childhood influences both in her community and at home.

Chetwynde School showed its creativity in the canteen and onstage with Shakespeare classic

Meatballs and pasta, tomato and lentil soup, chicken curry, creamy mushroom sauce with freshly-cooked pasta, fresh fruit purees with home-made yoghurt, oven-baked sausages and creamy mashed potatoes and carrot and swede mash. These were just some of the offerings in the award-winning canteen of Barrow’s Chetwynde School in 2008. Head chef Cathy Goude organised her team as they prepared meals to suit the appetites of children aged three to 18.
