If fully approved, 27 condos will be constructed. Meantime, the first Civic Recognition Award was handed out at Yorkton city council. Jason Boyda took the award in the adult category, as he was recognized for his work as a teacher, and as a coach for basketball and football.

Russell Man Appears in Court on Charges From Fire that Engulfed Oldest Building in Russell

By Ryan Young Jan 11, 2021 2:18 PM A new court date has been set for a man arrested in connection with a fire at the oldest house in Russell. Last Tuesday night, RCMP were called to the scene on Pelly Avenue, where firefighters were battling a blaze that had fully engulfed the structure, that was built in 1888. About two hours later, a call came in to 9-1-1, in which a man said he started the fire, giving his location, and when police arrived, he was found with a container of what was believed to be gasoline. On Friday, 22-year-old Liam Flett of Russell, was released from custody, and he will return to Russell Court on March 24th.
