VA Secretary McDonough makes Helena stop on Montana tour

The head of U.S. Veterans Affairs was joined Wednesday by Montana’s congressional delegation as he capped off a three-day visit to the state at Fort Harrison VA Medical Center in Helena, where he heard from the public about their concerns and what the VA could be doing better. Denis McDonough, appointed by President Joe Biden and confirmed to the post in February, said the Montana VA “does a lot of things really well … and one of them is this team works well together.” He noted a program in which nurses from the Montana VA system were deployed into community hospitals, which helps ensure continuity of care for veterans and prompt payment of bills.

Albany Stratton VA Medical Center expands COVID vaccine eligibility | The Daily Gazette SECTIONS ALBANY The Albany Stratton VA Medical Center said Wednesday it has expanded eligibility for on-site COVID-19 vaccinations. Eligible now are all veterans; veterans’ spouses, widows or widowers; veterans’ caregivers; recipients of the Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs; and members of the National Guard, Reserve and Coast Guard including those retired and never activated. Appointments are required to receive the vaccine through the Albany facility. Those unable to make appointments due to short supply of vaccine can register at https://www.va.gov/health-care/covid-19-vaccine/ the Stratton Center will notify them when vaccine is available.
