They came here and i think about it now in my old age and think about these kids coming to washington in this day and age age they would still be on their Parents Health insurance and there they were the members of congress and his wife so of course they were not scared to leave cocaine. And, hail pounds the bay area while a fastmoving storm barrels through. The 10 00 news on ktvu fox 2 starts now. Good evening. Those fastmoving thunderstorms rolled through the bay area today. Dumping hail in some areas. It looks like it is snowing. Reporter that womans car was covered in hail in morgan hill. A backyard and an entire street turns down in napa. Some of the reports we received today including here, the Swimming Pool filling up with hail like a drink filling up with ice. In lafayette, hail falling so fast it looked as though it was snowing. Took the lives of 700,000 americans, north and south and when we think about this civil war it is typically with the sense of the divisive relationship between north and south and the violence that captured the nation well before the war began. Men from the north and men from the south became a angry and angrier, challenging one another with words and with guns over the issue of slavery and washington d. C. Has long served as the epicenter of that discussion. When we think of the coming of the civil war almost common picture is of the caning of Charles Sumner, an anti slavery senator from massachusetts by South Carolina congressman Preston Brooks on the floor of the senate in 1856. I will talk about this in a minute but tonight i want to talk about how the picture of washington as violent and divisive is misleading.
