West Burlington, IA- The City of West Burlington is seeking members of the community to take part in a one-hour focus group workshop on Saturday, February 18th. According to an online post, the City of West Burlington was recently selected as one of 10 communities in Iowa to participate in the 2023 Iowa's Living Roadway's Community Visioning Program. The goal is to develop a transportation enhancement plan that graphically illustrates the vision of West Burlington residents. Part of the process is gaining input from the public on how they use the local transportation system. Focus group participants will identify and map transportation assets and barriers, as well as any desired improvements. The City needs at least 10 people per focus group in order to avoid needing to reschedule the event. For more information, visit the City of West Burlington's Facebook Page.

Letter sent to Jim Creevy, ABB head of government relations
The Hawk Eye
Due to the recent decision by ABB to close its production facility in West Burlington, Iowa, I feel prompted to write you and the board of directors and let you know how disappointed we as a community feel about the closing of the plant and the almost 300 positions that will be lost.
The former G.E. facility that was purchased by ABB has been part of our community since the early 1960 s and has provided excellent employment opportunities to our residents throughout those years.
The workforce has always exceeded in producing the most highest of quality products for G.E. and have continued to do this since it became ABB.
