The Loris Police Department has requested the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division investigate allegations of misconduct by a member of the department, a SLED spokesperson said.
In a rematch of the 2019 Loris mayoral election, incumbent Mayor Todd Harrelson and Loris City Councilman Michael Suggs will battle for the post when voters go to the polls. The municipal election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Loris City Council learned that talks will be held to city if the city and Horry County can partner to build a recreation center in Loris to serve the city and surrounding area. The county already operates recreation centers in the South Strand, the North Strand, Carolina Forest, Little River and Bucksport.
