The average U.S. power customer loses electricity for 1.5 to 2 hours annually even before extreme weather events are taken into account, according to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration. As the Texas experience showed, hurricanes, snowstorms, heat waves and other extreme weather events can make such outages dramatically worse. Customers in Tennessee state experienced 4.46 hours without power in 2019 0.24 fewer hours than the national average of 4.7 hours in 2019, which is the most recent information available, according to the EIA.

Dickson terminal: County OKs lawsuit settlement with developer Titan Chris Gadd, Nashville Tennessean © Chris Gadd/The Herald Opponents of the fuel terminal proposed for Dickson County rallied Thursday night at the county courthouse in Charlotte as the county planning commission voted on the terminal site plan inside. Dickson County reached a settlement Tuesday with Titan Partners, the company planning a large fuel terminal near Interstate 40, about four months after the company filed lawsuits to proceed with the $60 million project.  The Dickson County Commission voted 9-1 to settle the lawsuits. Commissioner Johnnie Reed voted no and Commissioner Linda Hayes abstained.  It s going to cause a lot of hard feelings,” said Commissioner Cotton Dawson. “And I hope when we vote to do the right thing, it doesn’t make people mad at you so bad it s completely out of reason.
