Reporter this is what firefighters in Central Washington have been up against for the last four days. Flames appear as quickly as firefighters can put them out. Since weve been here, weve seen black hawk helicopters sent in by the National Guard making water drops over new flames that have sparked up in the hills. Matt eagan is one of 100 National Guard members out here on the fire lines. He is exhausted after spending 16 hours a day combing the hillside for hot spots to protect homes in the line of fire. Were all pretty much beat. So i couldnt imagine doing this for the whole fire season, like the actual firefighters do. Reporter National Guard team leader kurt stitch says theyre working hard to keep up progress. Im not looking for an end in sight.
