Reporter police are still here and theres a large amount of blood on the sidewalk. The shooting happened at 1 15 this morning. The owner was shot a few times in the legs. His injuries were serious enough that he was air lifted. The man had armed himself when the suspect jumped inside the building. He shot and killed him. The burglar didnt think anyone was home. The building looks like a commercial building. The owner lives inside. The suspect was driven to a nearby hospital. The people, who transported him are in custody at the Richland Police station. They are saying they were passing by and helping out. Police believe they know the suspect. Its unclear who shot the homeowner, the burglar or people, who drove him to the hospital. We do have an update on the victim here. He is in serious condition but expected to survive. And and lauren green starts coverage, with tensions there overnight. It was the eighth night of protests, tensions continue to arise. And this means clashing with and in the Berkeley Center with much violence earlier this week. And protesters made their way through city streets. And that is when the scrimmages started. There was a gap between the streets. Dozens were arrested. Some of the officers were terror related but they are coming under scrutiny for the way they handled several encounters with protesters. Police commissioner dermot shea admonishing protesters but admitted there may be some police culpability. The investigations are progressing as fast as possible in the middle of a riot situation. Without a doubt it will be a couple officers suspended. They held a memorial for george floyd. Assembly. And sources tell nbc news, the grand jury investigating the shooting death of Michael Brown by officer Darren Wilson will reconvene monday. Yesterday, police put up barricades where that grand jury sits. Residents in the area are voicing concern about not knowing whats going to happen next.
