Santa cruz sheriffs deputies have arrested a man suspected of selling deadly doses of fake xanax. 22yearold Daniel Meehan of watsonville is accused of distributing the counterfeit drugs. He was arrested last friday. Deputies recovered cocaine, cash, several guns including a semiautomatic rifle. They say meehan sold tablets that killed two men one in watsonville, the other in aptos. Sheriffs detectives interviewed meehan and he told him that he had in fact supplied one of the decedents with the lethal medication but didnt realize that what he thought was an antidepressant was actually fentanyl. Deputies say meehan tried to destroy the pills after he found out they were dangerous. It is unclear if he is tied to three other deaths in San Francisco.
