Kao Ly Ilean Her, Hmong leader and UMN regent, dies at 52 Josh Verges © Provided by Twin Cities Pioneer Press University of Minnesota Regent Kao Ly Ilean Her, of Maplewood, was elected to the Board of Regents of the University of Minnesota in 2019. Her is the chief executive officer of the Hmong Elders Center, an adult day center serving Hmong seniors in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. Previously, she worked in a variety of organizations in government, nonprofit, and philanthropic sectors, including service as executive director of the State of Minnesota Council on Asian-Pacific Minnesotans.
