thing, but now it s the worst thing. if you re just waking up, the primary in mississippi is finally over, but the losing candidate doesn t think so. he s not conceding. last night incumbent thad cochran narrowly edged out tea party challenger chris mcdaniel. that was a humdinger as a certain college football coach used to say. just three weeks ago in the primary battle mcdaniel got more votes, but didn t get over 50%. he had all the momentum going into yesterday s runoff, last night with nearly 56,000 more voters going to the polls, 56,000 more voters going to a poll in a late june runoff, that s shocking. that s just shocking. thad cochran pulled out a narrow victory. good morning everyone. it s wednesday, june 25th, welcome to morning joe. with us we have morning joe contributor john heilemann, msnbc s former democratic congressman harold ford junior. president and ceo of politico jim vandehei and in washington associate editor of the washington post and msnbc
0 that s a fun and important thing to do. the same thing happened when it came time to elect members of the u.s. congress from michigan. more voters in michigan cast a ballot for a democratic member of congress than cast a ballot for a republican member of congress. and it was by quite a lot, by a couple 100,000 votes. oorm, more michigan voters wanted to send a democrat to congress to represent them than wanted to send a republican to represent them. guess who is actually going to congress to represent them? ah, yes, republicans. michigan s congressional delegation will include almost twice as many republicans as democrats, even though more people in michigan picked a democrat when they voted for congress. republicans got nine seat and the democrats got five. what has happened in michigan is not some sort of miscounting of the votes. it is not a mistake. it is weird, quite deliberately, and weird by design. elected officials draw up new districts for electing members of congress in st
makes me so proud. in moments of crisis, democrats and republicans always came together. i ve got to tell you, it was reassuring to be on those calls. i really mean this. it was reassuring. that s how it s supposed to work. we always work better in america when we work together and everyone s in on the deal. and i tell you that s one way to look at it. good morning. it s friday, november 2nd. welcome to morning joe. it s been a long week. with us on set, msnbc and time magazine senior political analyst, mark halperin. national affairs editor for new york magazine and msnbc political analyst, john heilemann and pulitzer prize-winning historian, jon meacham. good to have you on the show this morning. we will talk politics soon. thank you, ma am. actually, the candidates are jumping back into the fray. full campaign mode again. and we have an endorsement by mayor michael bloomberg to talk about. is that what that was? the word disappointing and endorsement. l
0 i think conservatives want to see not just big events in terms of big ideas but big events that grab the nation s attention. the romney campaign is frustrated because they say all the press asks them about is process but that s par for the course and true in every campaign i ve ever covered, the press will talk about process particularly polls. mitt romney, conservatives are waiting for him to be big in events, big in message, big in personality. it seems like right now the campaign is waiting for him to do that in the debates. mark, you know why they focus on process, because there s not substance to you know, it s funny, in 1988 facing a more hostile press george h.w. bush never once whined about process. you know why? because james baker told the press what they were going to be following. and he told the candidate what he was going to be doing. and every week the candidate did it. the message was unbelievable. but again, going on with charles krauthammer, for six months mitt
this is a fuse. in the case of iran s nuclear plans to build a bomb, a red line should be drawn right here. okay. first of all i have to say this. what s with the wile-e-coyote nuclear bomb? you really going to pretend you going to pretend that you don t know what a nuclear bomb looks like? you re israel. run downstairs and look in the basement. although if that is the sort of bomb we re dealing with i think i ve got a pretty easy solution to this entire iran problem. welcome to morning joe. good morning. it s friday, september 28th. as you take a look at the capitol and here we are in washington, d.c. with us onset, political editor and white house correspondent for the huffington post, sam stein. he s also a big fan of sport fall. nbc news capitol hill correspondent kelly o donnell and senior national correspondent for bloomberg business week and he has thrown a blizzard of bloomberg business week magazines all around the set. joshua green. in new york city msnbc
