Snow and winds enter Macomb area By Steven Barnum Voice Correspondent MACOMB From 2 to 5 inches of snowfall is falling on the McDonough County region, according to the National Weather Service.  Meteorologist Chuck Shaffer told The Voice that the winter storm will hit central Illinois in separate parts. The first part of the storm system hit the Springfield region Monday morning, he said. The Macomb area isn’t expected to see an impact until later Monday evening when the second part of the storm hits.  Shaffer warns travelers of potentially slick roads beginning Monday night. In addition to snowfall, he said that there is potential for freezing rain overnight. Temperatures that reach the 30s on Tuesday could help accelerate improvement, but he said that roads that aren’t treated could remain slick.
