Brown County COVID-19 Spread Considered Substantial as CDC Recommends Masking Indoors | Y100 WNCY | Your Home For Country & Fun

By Casey Nelson Aug 2, 2021 | 5:00 PM BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Oconto, Outagamie, Calumet, and other counties are seeing a significant rise in COVID-19 cases. A report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) puts Brown County in the substantial category for level of community transmission during the week of July 26th. The CDC’s map linked HERE shows counties highlighted in red and orange are areas where indoor mask wearing is recommended. “It does feel like a step backwards,” said Saint Norbert College director of health and wellness, Chrystal Woller. Woller says the university’s quick response to the rise in COVID-19 cases in Brown County was an email to all students and staff that masks are required indoors whether you’re fully vaccinated or not.

St Norbert College Eliminates Spring Break as Precautionary Measure

By Casey Nelson Feb 24, 2021 5:28 PM DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – In a normal year, Spring Break is one of the most popular times to travel. But for students at St. Norbert College, traveling may be out of the question. The university eliminated breaks, like Spring Break, for the 2020-2021 school year. “It was projected that COVID would most likely still be spreading across the country and within our communities across Wisconsin so for the health and safety of our campus community, I think it was a very prudent decision,” St. Norbert health services director Chrystal Woller said. Eliminating breaks allowed for the fall semester to end earlier, and the spring semester to start later.
