HAERTSELLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Christy Ferguson has served as the head softball coach of Hartselle High School for more than twenty years.
After bringing the school multiple state championships, last week she was told to step down as the head coach by school administrators.
Former players tell WAFF Ferguson told her players before a game that a player would not be participating because she was exposed to COVID. Someone who heard this went to the school board and Ferguson says she was unaware that this was a FERPA violation.

HARTSELLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Christy Ferguson coached the Hartselle High School softball team for over twenty years and won multiple state championships.
The Hartselle City School board recently announced she would be stepping down as coach, effective immediately.
School leaders have not offered a detailed explanation regarding the decision, but former player Anna Holland believes Ferguson was asked to step down for violating student health-related privacy known as FERPA laws.

SAGINAW, MI - For the last 25 years, Katy’s Kards has called Saginaw home. With new owners as of last summer, the party store continues to expand.
Ce’Erica Allen, her husband, DeVario Allen, and her mother, Christy Ferguson, are the new owners of the business located at 1200 Court St.
They offer party balloons in hundreds of styles, greeting cards, decorations, customized items and are now offering party planning services, online ordering, contactless pickup, delivery and more.
“We are expanding into rentals and delivery as well as custom orders, like you come in with an idea and we kind of put together different elements,” Ce’Erica Allen said. “We’re really trying to create like a complete party experience.”
