On Tuesday evening, according to the report, Canarelli s estranged wife – whose name was also withheld – called him to ask him to pick up their son from the home on 98th Trail North, southeast of Jupiter Farms Park.
When he arrived, the woman s current partner was upset that Canarelli was at the house and went up to a gate outside the residence, where the two men began arguing.
The woman said as they argued, she went to open the gate to let her son out when she heard a gunshot, according to the PBSO report.
The man s mother was also at the home to pick up his two children and saw the argument unfold. She told investigators that at one point her son picked up a pebble in his hand and Canarelli had a gun, according to the report.

PALM BEACH GARDENS The Palm Beach County Sheriff s Office on Tuesday identified the 29-year-old man who was fatally shot on Interstate 95 last week near Donald Ross Road.
Christopher Michael Maassen of Stuart died after being shot during an altercation between two men Friday. The other man neither has been identified nor charged in the shooting as of Tuesday afternoon, according to the sheriff s office.
At about 2 p.m. Friday, law-enforcement officers were called to the scene of the shooting, the highway s northbound lanes near the Donald Ross Road exit at the Jupiter-Palm Beach Gardens border.
Maassen died at the scene, while the other man was detained for questioning. PBSO took over the investigation from the Florida Highway Patrol.
