CONTRIBUTED PHOTO Modified: 1/1/2021 4:35:31 PM Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol was one of the first nursing homes in Worcester County to conduct a COVID-19 vaccination clinic for its residents and staff with CVS/Omnicare pharmacy, Assistant Administrator Michael Kachadoorian said. “Nursing homes across the state have been paired with a pharmacy CVS or Walgreens and back in the fall when this program was announced, QVH signed up for it immediately,” he said. “We were notified of our clinic date of Dec. 28 just before the Christmas holiday.”

Deaths from COVID-19 up to 8 in one area nursing home Published: 12/23/2020 6:58:04 PM Two local nursing homes continue to report no new cases of COVID-19, while a third reported eight deaths this week, five more than it reported last week. Another nursing home and a long-term care facility reported an increase in the number of positive cases. Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol reports its COVID-19 numbers daily on its website. Last week, it reported three deaths from the virus and by mid-week this week was reporting eight casualties. It currently has 27 residents who have tested positive and 19 staff members. Seventeen residents and 26 staff members have recovered from the virus.
