John Herbst was the clear winner in the District 1 commission race. But now he has a fight on his hands after his residency was challenged by a losing candidate.
That means the city manager may have to appoint a resident to take a seat on the dais at tonight’s commission meeting. Otherwise, the commission won’t have a quorum.
The victors will be sworn in on Nov. 15. Two weeks later, their annual commission salary will jump from $73,400 to $82,100, with another $9,000 a year to cover expenses.
