Justin Turner has been the Dodgers’ best hitter in the early going in 2021, and he’s signed for two seasons, with an option for 2023 as well. Back in February the extremely popular and productive third baseman talked about returning to his hometown team.
“At the end of the day it all worked out like it was supposed to, and I’m back in Dodger blue like I was supposed to be,” Turner said when his two-year, $34 million contract with the Dodgers became official.
But even though Turner’s returned was expected and actualized, it wasn’t always inevitable.

The Rays will be sending Tyler Glasnow out to start on the mound to start his third game this season. Glasnow looks to continue his excellence on the mound this season. With his two starts this season, Glasnow has allowed just one run while striking out 15 in 12 innings. He has a career 3.92 ERA with 110 strikeouts in 78 innings and over 16 starts at Tropicana Field. This will be Glasnow’s second career start against the Rangers.

Taylor Widener made his first start ever and threw 81 pitches, 53 for strikes, and was the main proponent of today’s 3-1 win. After 6 good innings from Widener it were Crichton, Young, Soria, Ginkel and Devenski who were able to secure the win in the 3 remaining innings, allowing just one run to the Padres. Offensively the D-Backs went 1 for 10 in RISP, but the at bats were not bad and they were able to knock-out starter Paddack after 4 innings and 89 pitches.
