Drivers. In leesburg very picturesque and had that snow globe effect for most of mid morning and early afternoon. We were on the roads in ashburn, chantilly and herndon as well. Drivers were taking it easy and driving with caution. That was good news. Vdot had 800 plows treating and salting the roads across Northern Virginia. Did seem like they were all over the place. Drivers we spoke with said that the roads seemed fine but they were hoping for a smooth rush hour. A little skittish maybe, yeah. I think its because its whiting out a little bit for people. Other than, that the roads are fine. I think everybodys driving, you know sensibly. Just starting to get wet mostly. But temperature keeps dropping. Well have problems. Thats a concern for some of the drivers if the temperature drops. This snow has been the hard, wet packed snow. Good for making snowballs and im sure thats what a lot of kids were doing out here. Up being much worse than they expected. As you can see behind me in the parking lot, theyre still plowing here at this school at timberlane elementary school. Many of the roadways look like this sidewalk out here right now. Employees are still trying to get the snow off their windshield as we speak but now as you can see near the school the roads have since been cleared. Im not happy about that. This Fairfax County mother is outraged after her son waited at the bus stop this morning for more than an hour. The bus never showed up. We are at the top of the hill. She tried to get her schools to school on time. It took another hour to get to her sons middle school from oakton to falls church. Its ridiculous that this happened. This morning, abc 7 saw several people tweeting about smoke in the rosalynn station just down the street as a matter of fact from our studio here and we sent a crew out and they found an odd smell there in the station but things running just fine. But richard wolf tweeted this picture noting the orange line train emptied at rosalynn and smoke fills cars. And then steve cuff tweeted this. But now, after now almost a month after you first heard the claims about the fans hear on abc 7 news metro is being urged to make sure it has a plan to use those massive fans correctly. A lot of concern at the council of governments today where those recommendations were delivered. Now, the ntsb investigated the fatal event here near the station back on january 12th and today, it released some of the preliminary findings of its investigation and i can go over a few of those for you.
