be involved in child trafficking rings. there is one other issue, too, chris, that s cropping up, that s the border barrier that s down the middle of the rio grand in one section. the biden administration is taking you to court saying it s illegal. now the federal government says wait a minute, this is on the mexico side of the border that runs down the middle of the rio grande. what do you say? one thing we are looking at right now, john, the governor s official, and if that s the case, it can be moved or extended. but the fact of the matter is, john, it s there for a reason, stemming the flow of mass migration. there has not been a single illegal crossing in front of the barrier, not a single drowning as well. drownings taking place and the fact we are seeing illegal crossings taking place further away from the barrier, so the barrier is doing its job. it s actually stopping the flow of mass migration between the ports of entry.
jacqui. jacqui: casey stegall for us in el paso. thanks so much. john: as migrant crossings trend up heading into the fall, fox news has dramatic footage from the texas department of public safety showing agents involved in a high speed chase of a group of human smugglers before detaining them on foot. joining us now is texas dps spokesman lieutenant chris oliveras. the dps showed us the footage, it goes through a small rural neighborhood ends up with the two occupants of the vehicle, one whom appears to be a child in the orange t-shirt running through the brush, jumps into a swamp. how much more of this are you seeing? it seems to happen almost every day. what s the danger to the public posed by this? good afternoon, john. thanks for having me on. this is a daily occurrence every day on the border, not just us
neil: at first i thought these were system of those ufo films. that can t be right but, yeah, they are. what did you see? absolutely, neil. that s why it s very important to expose what s happening on the border. it s very rare to see actual muglers that are bringing illegal immigrants between the ports of entry armed with a rifle. we ve had several events earlier this year where we worked with the mexican authorities to arrest smugglers armed with handguns, but to see a rifle really shows the capability, how brazen these criminals are. neil: all right. that was chris oliveras looking at and, you know, releasing some of this video and photographs that he had collected from the his men and women, himself also, about how brazen some of these drug cartels are, actually escorting migrants across the border. no no to matter how they do it. and, you know, completely fine with people being able to take pictures of them, video of them and continue along their way.
for that. we have a 2024 election coming up. what is your message to the new president? we have to apply consequences, or we ve got to discourage any type of mass migration taking place. put policies in place that were working prior to 2021, start the border wall construction and now texas has set this foundation now with this first ever marine barrier. let s continue with those efforts and place this barrier along the river so we can secure our border and prevent any unlawful crossings and also too go after the criminal organizations in mexico, the drug cartels, take away their profits and prevent the flow of fentanyl across the border that s killing tens of thousands of americans every day. nicole: certainly is. lieutenant oliveras, thank you so much. thank you so much. nicole: it s a crowded 2024 field, and while candidates try and stick out from the pack, trump has been a master at creating these viral moments. everybody wants a blizzard. what the hell is a blizzard?
