Punxsutawney Phil emerges reluctantly but alertly in 2018 at Gobblers Knob, held up by one of the member of the Inner Circle. Okay campers, rise and shine, and don t forget your booties, because it s cold out there today. With those words, two morning DJs woke fictional weatherman Phil Conners in the classic 1993 comedy Groundhog Day. The big news on everybody s lips though – chapped lips – was: Do you think Phil s gonna come out and see his shadow?
February 2 is Groundhog Day, and that s the question at hand once again.
One thing we wondered though, was just how often does Punxsutawney Phil – seer of seer, prognosticator of prognosticators, and the most famous groundhog in Pennsylvania – actually see his shadow.

The son of an elderly couple who were killed in a house fire in the early morning of Christmas Eve in Morden, Man. says his family and community are devastated by the loss.
Lorne and Rose Marie Midge Kyle were fixtures in the community, but above all, they were beloved parents and grandparents, Angus Kyle says. When we found out we just all laid in one bed and started crying, he said of himself and his two daughters.
WINNIPEG Two people in Morden have died following an early morning house fire in the community. According to the Morden Police Service, firefighters and police received reports of a fire on Birchwood Drive in the community at approximately 4:15 a.m. on Thursday. Firefighters brought the blaze under control and extinguished it. Morden police said after searching the home, emergency crews found the two residents, a man and a woman, dead. Morden police said the next of kin have been notified. The cause of the fire has not been determined, but Sgt. Chris Flook with the Morden Police Service said it is not considered suspicious at this time.
