Back in April, snack fans rejoiced when it was announced that Chocolate Dunkaroos would be returning to store shelves this summer. The news followed the general return of the vanilla flavor of the iconic 90s lunch snack staple in 2020. Now, snack fans can rejoice once again because that promised return of Chocolate Dunkaroos is finally here. The beloved snack is finally back on store shelves.
Dunkaroos were first launched in 1990 and soon became a popular lunchbox staple. However, the treat left the United States market in 2012, though they remained available in Canada until 2018. Originally, Dunkaroos were available in five different shapes with chocolate or vanilla frosting, and by 1993, they d introduced flavors such as Chocolate Chip, Cinnamon, Peanut Butter, and Rainbow Sprinkles. Vanilla Dunkaroos returned last year, but now chocolate variety is back as well.

For all the nineties kids longing for the discontinued favorite treats and snacks of their youth, 2021 is turning out to be a pretty great year. Last month General Mills announced that Chocolate Dunkaroos will return to store shelves this summer, joining the vanilla flavor variety that was resurrected last year, and now another lunchbox favorite is coming back. Dunkaroos recently announced the return of Chocolate Dunkaroos this summer, but that s not the only big news about the cult favorite throwback snack. On Wednesday, Dunkaroos got in on the NFT game with their own take on the trend Dunkaroos New Frosting Tokens. That s right, Dunkaroos is offering their own NFT in the form of 90s inspired artwork up for auction at Rarible.com.
Up for auction between Wednesday, April 28 and Saturday, May 1 are 10, 90s-inspired artworks that feature the Dunkaroos cookie and frosting duo as well as the mascot Duncan, but this isn t your regular NFT auction. The winners of these one-of-a-kind New Frosting Tokens won t just own the digital artwork, they ll also be the first to get their hands on Chocolate Dunkaroos. The highest bidder on each of the 10 Dunkaroos New Frosting Tokens will have sole ownership of a minted piece of digital art and will receive packs of Chocolate Dunkaroos before they hit store shelves. One of the few good things to come out of 2020 was the return of Dunkaroos, the popular 90s lunch snack staple that offered up little cookies that you could dunk in accompanying frosting. But while snack fans rejoiced last year that Dunkaroos were back at all last year, the only flavor available featured vanilla cookies and vanilla frosting with sprinkles. Now, though, Dunkaroos fans get to celebrate all over again because chocolate Dunkaroos are making their comeback this summer.
On the official Dunkaroos Instagram on Monday, the return of Chocolate Dunkaroos was confirmed, noting that they d be available at 7-Eleven, Circle K, and grocery stores nationwide.
