The report is ‘based on presumption of guilt, uses disinformation and lies fabricated by anti-China forces as its main sources’, says Chinese spokesman at the UN.
'Our understanding is that the report is about the serious maltreatment of minorities in Xinjiang. But this is a UNHRC report, so for the moment, let the UN comment on it,' MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said.
“I have been under tremendous pressure to publish, or not to publish, but I will not publish or withhold publication due to any such pressure,” UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet said.
The UN human rights chief said Thursday that it remained unclear whether a long-delayed report on China's Xinjiang region will be published before she steps down next week.
