India decided to diplomatically boycott Winter Olympics after reports emerged that a PLA soldier involved in the clashes with Indian troops in the Galwan Valley would take part in the opening ceremony.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un sent a message to Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulating him on the Beijing Winter Olympics as a "great victory" and saying he wanted to improve relations between their countries.
The decision comes in response to China making a commander of its PLA, Qi Fabao, who was involved in the Galwan Valley clash with Indian Army in 2020, a torchbearer for the flame of the Olympics.
Of the total infections, 23 were among new airport arrivals, while 11 were people already in the "closed loop" bubble that separates event personnel from the public in an effort to curb the spread of infections.
