A building that is no longer there, but was in the location where the gallery is today. And the museum moved in 1968 from its now former location on the National Mall to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in washington, d. The National Museum of health and medicine was founded in 1862 and known as the Army Medical Museum and the mission was to collect specimens of morbid anatomy and send them to washington to study to improve the care of the soldier.
