[chuckling] more than 800 freshmen were supposed to move into their new dorm but instead take a look, they are going to be moving into these Old Buildings. They are known as the bricks. They were built back in the 1960s and a spokesman even said they are near the end of their life. They are even slated to be demolished in a couple of years to make room for a new building. Now, the students were supposed to move into their new dorms called the Campus Village 2. It has its own laundry and rec room complete with air hockey and ping pong. But there were some construction delays despite crews working double shifts seven days a week. Now those freshmen cannot move in for another month. Social Service Centers are operating to help people file insurance and Health Claims and these are pictures from downtown lower lake. Fire destroyed nearly 190 homes and businesses. The woman who took these photos did not leave her home. She stayed with no electricity, water or cell service, and scanned the horizon, deciding if she would have to suddenly run. She didnt want to leave her home unprotected. During the valley fire in lower lake, we had a lot of looters so even though we were in mandatory evacuations, we stayed. And chased looters off of my neighbors property, across the way, and down here. People started their search yesterday looking for any valuables that may have survived the fire. Most remained optimistic despite the now annual threat of fire. Were not quitters. Well rebuild. Thats what were going to do. Exactly what well do. Firefighters stayed behind to help with the search.
