More than five lakh people were affected and over 15,000 were killed after methyl isocyanate gas leaked from the pesticide plant of Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL) on the intervening night of December 2-3, 1984 which was then located on the outskirts of Bhopal.
Rashida Bee, President of the Bhopal Gas Peedit Mahila Stationery Karmchari Sangh and a Goldman Environmental awardee, said that they would like the world to know that even 37 years after the worldís worst industrial disaster, justice remains denied to its survivors in Bhopal.

Bharat Biotech s Covaxin was granted restricted emegency use approval in clinical trial mode on January 2.
Vaccine maker Bharat Biotech on January 9 said the death of a 45-year-old volunteer in Bhopal during the Phase-III clinical trials of its coronavirus vaccine was not related to the vaccine.
“The volunteer passed away nine days after the dosing and preliminary reviews by the site indicate that the death is unrelated to the study dosing,” the company said in a statement. “We cannot confirm if the volunteer received the study vaccine or a placebo as the study is blinded.”

Bhopal, Dec 21 : People belonging to four organisations campaigning for justice for the Bhopal gas victims took to the streets on Monday in support of the farmers agitation and demanded that the Central government repeal the three new farm laws.
The four organisations the Bhopal Gas Peedit Mahila Stationary Karmchari Sangh , Bhopal Gas Peedit Mahila Purush Sangharsh Morcha , Bhopal Group for Information and Action and Children Against Dow Carbide have levelled serious charges against the Central government.
