GUWAHATI: The All Assam NHM Para-Medical Employees Union staged a protest at Chachal here on Friday demanding regularization of their jobs and inclusion of their basic pay under the 7th Pay Commission.
Among other demands of the Union include, same facilities and equal pay as the SSA (
Highlighting their demands, the Union has sent a memorandum to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. We are deprived of the basic facilities in spite of doing duty during the COVID-19 pandemic. We will resort to cease work if our demands are not fulfilled in the days ahead, the Union stated.
Nadda is also scheduled to attend a meeting with state party leadership, including Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. The assembly poll in the northeastern state is likely to be held in April.

New Delhi, Jan 11: BJP president J P Nadda who is on a two day tour of poll bound Assam from today said that the BJP will return to power in the state as the current dispensation has ensured all round development.
The BJP is working for the development of Assam after taking into consideration the interests of all communities, Nadda said at a rally in Silchar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister, Amit Shah have solved the 50 year old Bodo issue by signing the peace accord and bringing militants to the mainstream, he also said.
Assam Assembly: Bodo becomes associate official language of Assam
The State Assembly on Wednesday declared Bodo as an associate official language of Assam by passing the Assam official Language Amendment Bill .

Guwahati: The Assam Assembly today declared Bodo as the associate official language of the state. The declaration comes after the Assembly passed the Assam Official Language Amendment Bill on the third day of its three-day winter session.
As per reports, the Amendment Bill was introduced on the floor of the Assembly on December 28 by Assam Parliamentary affairs minister Chandra Mohan Patowary on behalf of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. Earlier on December 22, the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal-led Assam Cabinet sat in a meeting and decided to approve the bill in the Assembly session.
