STAFF REPORTER GUWAHATI: The All Assam NHM Para-Medical Employees Union staged a protest at Chachal here on Friday demanding regularization of their jobs and inclusion of their basic pay under the 7th Pay Commission. Among other demands of the Union include, same facilities and equal pay as the SSA ( Highlighting their demands, the Union has sent a memorandum to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. We are deprived of the basic facilities in spite of doing duty during the COVID-19 pandemic. We will resort to cease work if our demands are not fulfilled in the days ahead, the Union stated.

The declaration comes after the Assembly passed the Assam Official Language Amendment Bill on the third day of its three-day winter session. As per reports, the Amendment Bill was introduced on the floor of the Assembly on December 28 by Assam Parliamentary affairs minister Chandra Mohan Patowary on behalf of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. Earlier on December 22, the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal-led Assam Cabinet sat in a meeting and decided to approve the bill in the Assembly session.
