The Maharashtra government on Friday told the Bombay High Court transgenders can apply for police constable posts and that it would frame rules setting standards for their physical tests by February 2023.
A bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Abhay Ahuja allowed the plea filed by the National High Speed Rail Corporation seeking permission to cut the mangrove trees, owing to the project's "public importance".

The Bombay High Court on Friday allowed the National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) to cut 21,997 mangroves in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar to make way for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet train project “in public interest”, subject to various conditions.
A division bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Abhay Ahuja was hearing appeals filed by the government challenging two orders of the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal (MAT) to include the third gender option apart from male and female on its website for admission forms.
