The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) informed the Bombay high court on Thursday that it will reconstruct by December 31 the crematorium for fisherfolk at Erangal in Malad which was demolished by the Mumbai Suburban Collector Nidhi Chaudhari without giving them a hearing.
The Bombay High Court on Thursday batted for the rights of transgender persons and asked why the laws in the State of Maharashtra do not mirror the social progress achieved in the field of LGBTQIA rights.
A division bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Abhay Ahuja said it was concerned over the issue of open manholes across the city and sought the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to come up with a permanent solution
Expressing concern over the threat to pedestrian safety from open manholes, the Bombay High Court warned on Wednesday that municipal officials concerned will be held responsible if anyone were to fall into a manhole.
